Chennai:
A YouTuber is in trouble after he himself broke the umbilical cord of his newborn baby at a hospital in Chennai. Food vlogger Irfan has been issued a show cause notice by the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services after he made a video of his wife's delivery inside the operation theater and posted it on his YouTube channel.
The video reportedly garnered over 1.4 million views in two days but has now been removed.
Tamil Nadu Health Department has filed a police complaint against the doctor and the private hospital. It also demands a ban on the doctor who allowed such action inside the operation theatre.
State Health Minister Ma Subramaniam said both Irfan and the hospital had violated the National Medical Commission Act.
Dr J Rajamurthy, director of medical services, said, “We have complained to the state medical council about the doctor who asked Irrfan if he wanted to cut the umbilical cord. This is a doctor's job, and it should not be done by an attendant.” Cannot be assigned.” , the Times of India was quoted as saying.
In May, Irrfan underwent a gender determination test in Dubai and shared the gender of the baby. Irfan had apologized after being pulled up by the health department.
