Manchester United's legendary player Rio Ferdinand recently appeared on Indian YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast and revealed his favorite Indian cricketer. The Indian men's cricket team is currently going through its worst phase as they suffered a shocking 1-3 defeat against Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test. With that defeat, India also failed to reach the World Test Championship final. Despite these difficult times, cricket still remains an integral part of India and is celebrated like a festival due to its huge fan base.

When asked about his favorite Indian cricketer, Ferdinand left out current stars like captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and chose the great Sachin Tendulkar.

“Tendulkar (Sachin). He's the guy, isn't he? Tendulkar is that guy. He's the main, main guy. Who's the other one? Is it (Virat) Kohli? I don't know many but Tendulkar always stood up for me, He is most charismatic and obviously what he has achieved is worldwide recognition. It is not just cricket fans who hear about a person like him and he is someone who is ahead of the game.” Ferdinand.

Talking about Ferdinand, he took Manchester United to new heights during his tenure. In his 12-year-long stay, the Red Devils won six Premier League titles, one Champions League, three League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Talking about Team India, Rohit Sharma and Company recently lost the five-match Test series against Australia. This was the first time in ten years that India lost a Test series against Australia.

Now, India is preparing for the upcoming white-ball series against England, where five T20Is and three ODIs will be played. T20I will start from January 22 in Kolkata.

After the England series, Team India will enter the much-awaited Champions Trophy 2025, which will start from February 19.

The ICC tournament will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Dubai and India's first match will be played against Bangladesh on February 20.
