A sessions court in Thane has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for brutally murdering a 21-year-old woman after she rejected his friendship proposal. Pawar attacked her 13 times with such intensity that the blade of the knife got stuck in the victim's body, the prosecution said, adding that he had also bought another knife. Prosecutors said he continued to attack the profusely bleeding woman with another weapon.

As a crowd started gathering at the spot, Pawar ran away, while throwing the other knife about 500 meters away from the spot. Subsequently, he met his friends and told them about the murder, after which he reached Narpoli police station in Bhiwandi.

Meanwhile, the victim was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.
