Bahirat vs Shirole: Shivaji Nagar voters express concerns over traffic, drainage and development ahead of assembly elections.

Speaking to NewBharat TV, Satyajit Sai Pawar, who works in an IT company in Hinjewadi, said that traffic jam is a major issue due to the time taken in the construction of the multi-level flyover at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk. “Despite several changes, the situation remains the same,” he said, urging that the construction be completed as soon as possible, adding that debris from the site was being thrown on footpaths and roads, causing accidents.
Speaking to NewBharat TV, Arun Kuradkar, an auto driver and resident of Wadarwadi, said, “We have been living in Shivaji Nagar constituency since childhood. If we compare the current situation with the previous tenure, there has been some development, like Improvement in drainage and water supply. But the main issue is traffic, which needs to be addressed urgently. It is difficult to say who will win the election, as the capabilities of both the candidates are similar.
Vishwajit Bhalerao, a shopkeeper, said, “In the last assembly elections, Dutta Bahirat was defeated by BJP's Siddharth Shirole by a margin of only 5,000 votes. The situation will be similar in this election too. Our family will vote after reviewing the condition of the roads. Will do.” , water supply, and storm water drainage in the last five years. Both candidates are strong leaders, but traffic-free roads, better drainage lines, and inflation issues are the main topics of discussion among voters.”
Vetal Tekdi dominates the debate
Nirmala Vidyarthi, an activist, said, “The Vetal Tekdi issue is a very sensitive matter for environmentalists. The government should take the right decision.”
Meanwhile, MLA Siddharth Shirole, speaking to the media, said, “In the last five years, I have worked for citizens and young colleagues of all classes and age groups in Shivaji Nagar constituency. People are not influenced by the false promises of the opposition. Will be.” I have full faith in the intelligent voters of Shivaji Nagar.”
Shirole also highlighted the impact of Pune Metro in reducing traffic congestion in the constituency. He said, “There are ten metro stations in this constituency, and the Shivaji Nagar to Hinjewadi metro line is going to be completed in record time. This new metro corridor will add another thirty metro stations for the residents of Shivaji Nagar.”
He also emphasized that the construction of the flyover at Pune University Chowk is going on at a fast pace and is expected to be completed by January. “The Ladki Bahin Scheme will definitely prove to be a game changer,” Shirole said.
Additionally, widening of the old Mumbai-Pune highway is underway, and plans for expansion of under-bridges at Khadki and Range Hills are also being prepared. Pune Municipal Corporation has allocated funds for these projects. Integration of Shivajinagar ST Bus Depot is underway, with a massive bus station being developed along with underground metro.
