Rohit Sharma gave another big hint on the batting role for the third Australia Test. To KL Rahul...

There is a lot of discussion about Rohit Sharma's batting position in the ongoing Test series against Australia. He missed the first Test match as he stayed back with his family after the birth of his second child and in the second Test, he batted at No. 6, playing as an opening batsman alongside KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The move did not work out as both Rohit and Rahul struggled to score runs in the pink ball Test in Adelaide. However, India are likely to stick with the same batting line-up in the third Test and there were major hints about this decision in the practice session on Thursday.

Rahul and Jaiswal were the first to reach the practice session but Rohit came to bat earlier than last time. He replaced Rahul for a while before coming back for the second round.

Meanwhile, star batsman Virat Kohli was seen stretching and warming up with other team members. Head coach Gautam Gambhir, bowling coach Morne Morkel and assistant coach Abhishek Nair were involved in a serious discussion, presumably making strategies for the upcoming Test.

Captain Rohit Sharma was actively practicing and was later seen discussing with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Mohammed Siraj and Shubman Gill were also focusing on their stretching and running routines.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were seen busy having a hearty conversation, with Gambhir later chatting with wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant as well. Young Devdutt Padikkal and Harshit Rana were jogging, later joined by fast bowler Akash Deep.

Jasprit Bumrah, who shone in the first test, was also seen warming up.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were addressing the team, fielding coach T Dilip was explaining specific details and giving advice, especially to Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The team then proceeded with the fielding session and practiced slip catching drills. Rishabh Pant took his position behind the stumps, while Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal took their positions in the slips. Later Devdutt Padikkal joined him in the slip cordon.
