A big development has come out from the Indian Premier League (IPL), in which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is preparing to appoint Virat Kohli as the captain of the franchise again. Kohli, who captained Bengaluru from 2013 to 2021, decided to leave this responsibility after the 14th edition of the T20 league. RCB was led by South African cricketer Faf du Plessis from 2022 to 2024. But, ahead of the mega auction, a major change is being brought about, with Kohli set to take up the leadership role again.
Virat is no longer the captain in any of the three formats on the international circuit. Actually, he left T20 International cricket after the victory of the Indian team in the 2024 T20 World Cup. According to a report in Times of India, Kohli is ready to lead his IPL team again.
Kohli had informed fans about his decision to step down from the captaincy of RCB before the conclusion of the 2021 season. Many believed that this decision came as a result of the franchise's inability to win the IPL title under his leadership. However, even after Kohli's departure, the team's challenges remain the same.

In 2021, while announcing his decision to step down from RCB captaincy, Kohli had said: “I will remain an RCB player until I play my last game in the IPL. But it has been a wonderful journey of nine years of joys, disappointments, moments Is.” Of joys and sorrows, and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and believing in me constantly and unconditionally.
“And as I said till the last day of playing the IPL, I will remain committed to playing for this franchise… for you guys, for the fans, because of what you have done for me and because of what you have done. Kohli “For the last several years I have been feeling that this thing will stay with me for the rest of my life,” he said three years ago.
Kohli's return as RCB captain also almost confirms that Faf du Plessis will not be retained by the franchise. It was also reported that Royal Challengers were after Shubman Gill for the role, but he decided to remain with Gujarat Titans.
