Jaipur: On the occasion of the first anniversary of the BJP government in Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the important and much-awaited river linking Parvati-Kalsindh-Chambal-ERCP river project in Jaipur. The Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh exchanged the MoU of the project in the presence of PM Modi.
In his address, the Prime Minister accused the Congress of delaying and creating water disputes between states, saying that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had envisioned interlinking of rivers to resolve the issue and a special committee was formed for this. was formed. He said the goal was to transfer excess water from rivers to drought-hit areas, thereby solving both flood and drought problems. The Supreme Court also supported this view, but previous governments never aimed to reduce water issues and instead encouraged water disputes between states.
“The picture of the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan signing the agreement for this project is extraordinary. In the years to come, people across the country will show this picture to politicians and ask them why they keep playing politics over water. “The water flowed into the sea, but why couldn't they sign a paper,” the PM said.
Accusing the Congress of delaying the ERCP, the PM said that instead of finding a solution, the Congress delayed the project and Rajasthan had to suffer the consequences of this policy. The PM said that his government believes in cooperation and solutions in the face of opposition and obstacles.
“Our government has approved and expanded ERCP. As soon as our governments were formed in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, agreement was reached on the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project, which will link the Chambal river and its tributaries. I envision a day when Rajasthan will not face water shortage and will have enough water for development, Modi said while highlighting the benefits of the project, which will provide irrigation and drinking water to 21 districts of Rajasthan. Will do.
Laying the foundation stone and inaugurating development projects worth over Rs 46,000 crore in Rajasthan, PM Modi thanked the people for their support and said the central and state governments are becoming symbols of good governance.
“People believed that his party symbolized the guarantee of good governance and that is why he got public support in so many states. In the last 60 years, there is no such example of the same party forming the central government three consecutive times and twice in Maharashtra and Haryana. This shows the trust people have in us.”
Emphasizing the importance of water conservation and saying that it is the responsibility of both the government and society to use every drop of water effectively, the Prime Minister asked people to engage in micro irrigation, drip irrigation and maintenance of Amrit Sarovars. Urged. and raising awareness about water management. He also encouraged to promote natural farming among the farmers.
On this occasion, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that this is a 20 year old water dispute. This gift of water to both the states has been fulfilled only because of PM Modi. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that this project will benefit 21 districts of Rajasthan and 2.5 lakh hectares of land will be irrigated here.
On this occasion, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil were also present.
The Prime Minister inaugurated 9 projects worth over Rs 11,000 crore, including 7 Central Government projects and 2 State Government projects and laid the foundation stone of 15 projects worth over Rs 35,300 crore, including 9 Central Government projects and 6 State government projects are included.
