Premier League: Manchester City hosted at Crystal Palace

Manchester City failed to win for the eighth time in nine matches in a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday as the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool was postponed due to high winds. City had the chance to move up to second in the Premier League but failed to secure a 3–0 win over Nottingham Forest in midweek, preventing defeat from the English champions. Pep Guardiola's men got off to their worst ever start at Selhurst Park when Daniel Munoz raced home to Will Hughes' pass to fire Palace home after four minutes.

Erling Haaland's huge header from Matthias Nunes' cross brought City back level and took the Norwegian level on 13 Premier League goals with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah in the battle for the Golden Boot.

The visiting team made a strong start in the second half, but were dealt a blow when Maxence Lacroix headed the ball into Hughes' corner.

Rico Lewis found the top corner to give City another equaliser, but was then ruled out six minutes from time.

Fourth-placed City are eight points clear of Liverpool, but dropping more points is another blow to their chances of winning five titles in a row.

The final league derby between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park will have to be rescheduled due to high winds and heavy rain in the western regions of England after Storm Darragh.

The decision to postpone the lunch hour was taken just after 0800 GMT due to security concerns.

“Whilst we appreciate this will be extremely disappointing for supporters, the safety of fans, staff and players is paramount,” Everton said in a statement.

Brentford Castle

Brentford enjoyed the best home record in the division and made it seven wins from eight matches with a thrilling 4–2 win over Newcastle at the GTech Community Stadium.

Brian Mbeumo, who has been linked with a move to the Magpies, opened the scoring with a sensational individual effort.

Twice Newcastle equalized in quick succession in the first half through Alexander Issac and Harvey Barnes, the latter being Yoan Wiesa's second for Brentford.

But Newcastle were made to pay the price for disastrous defending in the second period when Nathan Collins headed a long ball past goalkeeper Mark Flekken.

Kevin Shadey then sealed the points for the Bees in stoppage time.

Brentford climbed to seventh, while Newcastle fell to 12th.

Aston Villa moved up to fifth in the table thanks to a 1-0 win over bottom-placed Southampton.

John Duran made his mark with the only goal in his first Premier League start of the season.

The Colombian took advantage of another defensive disaster for the Saints and scored his ninth goal of the season in the 24th minute.

Manchester United host Nottingham Forest in a 1730GMT kick-off as the Red Devils look to bounce back from Ruben Amorim's first defeat at Arsenal on Wednesday.

Liverpool's postponement means Arsenal and Chelsea have the chance to reduce the gap at the top to four points when they visit Fulham and Tottenham respectively on Sunday.
