Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ken-Betwa River Link Project on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Officials said here on Monday that the Prime Minister will reach Khajuraho and inaugurate the project.

This project will be inaugurated on 25th December. Sources claimed that Daudhan Dam will be built in the border area of ​​Chhatarpur and Panna and it may be renamed 'Atal Sagar Dam'.

Ken-Betwa Link National Project is the largest irrigation project in the country adopting underground pressurized pipe irrigation system. This project is being built on the Ken River in Chhatarpur and Panna districts of the state.

Under the project, 77 meter high and 2.13 km long Daudhan Dam and 2 tunnels (upper level 1.9 km and lower level 1.1 km) will be constructed on Ken River in Panna Tiger Reserve and 2,853 million cubic meters of water will be stored in the dam.

The surplus water of Ken will be transferred to Betwa River through a 221 km long link canal from Daudhan Dam on Ken River, providing irrigation and drinking water facilities to both the states.

Through the project, 8.11 lakh hectares of land in 2 thousand villages of 10 districts of Panna, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Sagar, Raisen, Vidisha, Shivpuri and Datia of Madhya Pradesh will be irrigated through pressurized micro irrigation system. About 7 lakh farmer families will benefit from this project.
