Indian-origin genius Sriram Krishnan, who has been appointed senior policy advisor for artificial intelligence in the incoming Trump administration, was ahead of his time when he was in college, Sri Krishnan's professor Dr G Vadivu told NewBharat TV. .

Dr. Vadivu heads the Department of Science and Big Data at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Tamil Nadu.

“He (Mr. Krishnan) learned a lot and became interested in computing languages. He learned the Python programming language himself and shared his knowledge with faculty like me. These are new languages ​​that are relevant to new technologies like artificial intelligence and data science. are useful for,” Dr. Vadivu told NewBharat TV.

“Although it was very early for us to learn about artificial intelligence, he was into that kind of parallel programming and distributed computing with Python. We were very happy to know that he had followed the same career path from his undergraduate period to this time.” “He was recruited by Microsoft directly after graduation,” said Dr Vadivu, who teaches at SRMIST's campus in Kattankulathur.

US President-elect Donald Trump has selected 41-year-old Mr. Krishnan as senior policy advisor for artificial intelligence in the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Dr. Vadivu said that Mr. Krishnan learned everything on his own.

“He was very interested in learning new things on his own… We used to teach general subjects like computer architecture or operating systems, which are some of the basic things for computer science and engineering students. However, he was innovative and he Learned new technologies. “We thought he would definitely achieve something big in the future,” the SRMIST professor told NewBharat TV.

After Microsoft, which he joined right after graduation, Mr. Krishnan worked at Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) under Elon Musk.

Dr. Vadivu said that Sri Krishnan never forgot his alma mater.

“He loved coming here and meeting the faculty members and his juniors. He came to the SRMIST campus several times and gave seminars and sessions for the junior students,” he said.

Mr Krishnan accepted President-elect Trump's offer in a post on X and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity.

He said, “I am honored to be able to serve my country and work closely with David Sachs to ensure continued American leadership in AI. Thank you to Donald Trump for this opportunity.”
