MIT World Peace University sets up 'Sports Advisory Board' to promote sports development

MIT World Peace University established a 'Sports Advisory Board' with the aim of developing infrastructure, implementing sports policies and promoting positive attitudes towards sports at the university level. The board also wants to provide guidance from experienced players and create awareness about the sporting events.

The first meeting of the 'Sports Advisory Board' set up by the Sports Department of WPU was held at Sant Shri Dnyaneshwar Hall of WPU. The dignitaries present at the time approved the decision, and work will begin soon.

The meeting was presided over by Professor Dr. Vishwanath Da, Founder President of MIT WPU. Karad. WPU Executive President Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad, Vice Chancellor Dr. RM Chitnis, Registrar Ganesh Pokle, WPU Sports Director Dr. PG Dhanve and Co-Director Abhay Kachre were also present.

The 'Sports Advisory Board' includes renowned sportspersons from across the country, such as Anjali Bhagwat (Shooting, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award), Shantaram Jadhav (Kabaddi, Arjuna Award), Manoj Pingale (boxing, Arjuna Award), Shrirang Inamdar (Kho). Kho, Arjun Award), Abhijeet Kunte (Chess, Dhyan Chand Award), Professor Vilas Kathure (Wrestling, Shiv Chhatrapati Award), Manoj Erande (Swimming, Shiv Chhatrapati Award), Ajit Jarande (Gymnastics, Shiv Chhatrapati Award), Yogesh Dhadve (Judo, Shiv Chhatrapati Award), Vaishali Phadtare (Volleyball, Shiv Chhatrapati Award), Dr. Kaustubh Radkar (Iron Man, Shiv Chhatrapati Award), Dr. Pallavi Kawane (yoga, world champion), Kapilesh Bhate (horse riding, international player), Mandar Tamhane (football, CEO North East United Football Club), Asim Patil (e-sports and industrialist), Sundar Iyer (Secretary, Lawn Tennis Association of India), Kamlesh Pisal (Secretary, MCA), Apoorva Sontakke (Basketball, International player), Umesh Zirpe (Everest Veer), Yogesh Natu (Football) ) ), Dr. Ajit Mapari (Sports Medicine), Dr. Swaroop Savanur (Mental Training Coach), and Milind Dhamdhere (Senior Sports Journalist).

Additionally, Rekha Bhide (hockey, Arjuna Award), Kamlesh Mehta (table tennis, Arjuna Award), and Aditya Kanitkar (golf coach) were present online.

Scientific information on sports, sports activities and organization of National Sports Day and Sports Week was provided in the meeting. The Board aims to provide full support to players wishing to reach international level, including access to international facilities and expert coaching. The Board also focuses on providing state-of-the-art sports facilities for various sports, organizing league competitions at the university level and ultimately establishing a sports university. To enhance the sports culture, this initiative will involve students, professors, administration, sports experts and the wider community through a multi-pronged approach.

International players and student representatives of MIT WPU were also present in this meeting.
