A 26-year-old teacher in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur was allegedly murdered on the school premises after she rejected the suspect's marriage proposal. Ramani was attacked by 30-year-old Madan at Mallipatnam Government School this morning. He was taken to hospital with deep wounds on his neck, but died on the way.
A senior official told NewBharat TV that police have arrested Madan and are interrogating him. “It was a personal motive,” he said.
Inquiries revealed that Ramani and Madan's families had recently met to discuss their marriage, but they had rejected the proposal. After this, a frustrated Madan went to the school and allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon.
School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamizhi has condemned the incident and ordered immediate counseling of the students. The minister, who is visiting Thanjavur, has also assured strict action against the suspect.
