Following the attack on Allu Arjun's Hyderabad residence, the 'Pushpa' actor's legal team was seen entering his Jubilee Hills residence on Monday evening.
In visuals circulated on the internet, a group of lawyers were seen entering Allu Arjun's house with bags and folders in their hands. According to DCP West Zone, Hyderabad, on the evening of December 22, several people suddenly arrived at the actor's residence in Jubilee Hills with placards in their hands.
They started raising slogans and one person climbed the compound wall and started throwing stones. Security staff intervened, resulting in a brawl as they attempted to persuade protesters to come down from the wall. The men eventually came down, but scuffled with the security staff and damaged flower pots kept along the ramp. Six persons claiming to be part of Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC) were detained.
Six accused who vandalized Allu Arjun's residence were granted bail today.
The controversy stems from an incident on December 4, when Allu Arjun attended the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at the Sandhya Theatre. A huge crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor and there was chaos when he waved to fans from the sunroof of his car. Due to this, a woman named Revathi died tragically and her child got injured.
Following the incident, Allu Arjun was arrested and later released on bail after furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000.
In the latest development, Pushpa 2 producers Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar handed over a check of Rs 50 lakh to Revathi's family in the presence of Telangana's Roads and Buildings and Cinematography Minister, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy at KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad. The check was received by the father of Revathi's husband, Mr. Tej, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Producer Naveen Yerneni said, “This is a very unfortunate incident. We are deeply saddened since the day this incident happened. We cannot express our emotions. Revathi's death is a significant loss for the family. We have been in shock since the day this incident happened. Met the boy and he is recovering. We want to support the family and this investigation is part of that effort.”
The incident has sparked political controversy, with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy blaming Allu Arjun for the tragedy. Addressing the assembly, Reddy revealed that the police had refused permission for any program at the evening theater due to security concerns.
“On December 2, Akbaruddin Owaisi requested to make arrangements for the cast and crew of Pushpa 2 to attend the premiere at Sandhya Theater on December 4,” Reddy said.
“However, on December 3, the Chikkadpally circle inspector rejected the request in writing, stating that the theater is in a congested area with only one entry and exit point, making it difficult to ensure security. Despite this, the actor participated in the event, climbed on the roof of his car and held a road show, which worsened the situation.'' The Chief Minister further explained how the police intervened during the stampede.
“The ACP initially requested the actor to leave to control the crowd, but he refused saying that he would leave after watching the film. Later the DCP had to intervene and warned that if he did not If he did, he would be arrested. Even while leaving, he repeated the act of climbing on the roof of the car and waving at the fans.”
Responding to the incident of December 4, Allu Arjun expressed his condolences. “This was a tragic accident, and my thoughts are with the family. I have been monitoring the condition of the injured child, and I am relieved to hear that his condition is improving. There has been a lot of misinformation and false allegations. I don't want to blame any department or politician. It is very painful for me.”
The actor rejected the allegations of misconduct and called it an attempt at “character assassination”. He said, “I have worked in the film industry for 20 years and this incident has been devastating. Despite working for three years, I have not seen my film in the theatre. I deeply apologize for this incident but would like to see Am.” Let us clarify that I had no direct involvement in the unfortunate incidents.” Allu Arjun was last seen in Pushpa 2, directed by Sukumar.
