Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In view of the Diwali festival, the state government on Monday decided to exempt from market tax and “teh bazari” tax street vendors selling their indigenous products and other decorative items on the footpath. This decision will be effective from Tuesday till November 11 (Dev Utarani Gyaras).
Chief Mohan Yadav said that this decision has been taken in view of the Diwali festival. All concerned departments responsible for making special arrangements in urban and rural areas have been directed to exempt small traders from market tax and sub-market tax.
The decision temporarily covers small traders selling their produce on footpaths and poor people coming from rural areas to cities to sell their indigenous products including toys, clay products, decorative items etc. He directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply so that people can do so. There will be no difficulty in enjoying the festival of lights.
The government has declared a holiday on Friday
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state government has declared a public holiday on the occasion of Govardhan Puja festival falling on Friday. This holiday has been declared under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881.
Interestingly, the government has also declared a holiday on Sunday on Bhai Dhoj.
