The Karnataka government on Tuesday declared three-day mourning across the state following the death of veteran politician SM Krishna.
The government has banned public entertainment programs across the state during this period.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and veteran politician SM Krishna died in Bengaluru on Tuesday after prolonged illness at the age of 93.
Elisha Andrews, Deputy Secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, said that the tricolor will remain at half mast in the state till December 12.
The funeral will be held with state honors at his birthplace Somanahalli on Wednesday, Andrews said.
The order said that as a mark of respect, December 11 has been declared a holiday in all schools, colleges and government offices in Karnataka.
Meanwhile, condolences continued on the demise of SM Krishna.
Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “Deeply saddened by the demise of SM Krishna, a true visionary and architect of modern Bengaluru. As someone who had the privilege of working with him, I witnessed firsthand his extraordinary leadership skills and vast knowledge.”

“He contributed immensely as minister of state, chief minister, governor of Maharashtra and Union minister,” Bommai said.
SM Krishna's forceful and measured speech, coupled with his dignified conduct, serves as a model for young politicians and a guide for administrators.
“He played an important role in the development of Karnataka, especially in advancing Bengaluru and IT-BT sectors,” he praised.
“The mid-day meal scheme started by SM Krishna was extremely successful. Regardless of his position, he maintained his integrity and self-respect,” Bommai said.
“After joining BJP, he became a trusted leader close to our Prime Minister. His passing is the loss of an important chapter of the last generation. I hope his life will continue to inspire us. SM Krishna was very close to me personally and had a strong relationship with my father,'' he said.
“I am deeply saddened by his loss. I pray that God gives strength to his family to bear this loss and may his soul rest in peace.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has expressed deep grief over the demise of Krishna.
“SM Krishna was a remarkable political leader and unique visionary. HM Parameshwara said, losing such an eminent personality and visionary politician is an irreparable loss for Karnataka.
HM Parameshwara highlighted the unique contributions of SM Krishna as Deputy Chief Minister, Chief Minister, Governor of Maharashtra and Union Minister.
He credited SM Krishna for introducing Karnataka – especially Bengaluru – to the world as a hub of IT-BT, thereby creating employment opportunities for thousands of youth.
His leadership and vision for the development of the state was exemplary.
HM Parameshwara described SM Krishna's political career as an inspiration and prayed for eternal peace for his soul.
He also prayed to God to give his family, supporters and close associates the strength to bear this loss.
