American YouTuber Jake Paul returned to competitive combat after a gap of almost two decades and defeated legendary boxer Mike Tyson. Paul arrived on the scene and defeated the 59-year-old in an eight-round bout at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. For the special occasion, Paul wore never-before-seen boxing gear, which he considered “the most expensive in sports history”. According to Problem Child, his outfit consists of boxing shorts, shoes and jacket studded with 380 carats of diamonds.
Paul's outfit was designed by Los Angeles-based Studio Surgeon, and is worth around $1 million (Rs 8.4 crore). Paul's silver jacket featured his name encrusted with diamonds on the front, as well as diamond tennis chains on both his shorts and shoes.
Additionally, the gray jacket also featured the logo of his new healthcare line, W by Jake Paul, encrusted with jewels. However, this luxury lifestyle is nothing new for Paul. Additionally, he was seen wearing a $7 million (approximately Rs 59 crore) Jacob & Co watch at the official weigh-in on Friday.
The 27-year-old from Cleveland, who defeated legendary heavyweight icon Mike Tyson in an eight-round made-for-Netflix bout on Friday, has turned his fame as an Internet celebrity into a lucrative career in combat sports.
Paul, who has a net worth estimated at $80 million according to the website Celebrity Net Worth, first rose to prominence in 2013 when he posted short videos on the now-defunct site Vine, garnering millions of followers and billions of views.
He later demonstrated his ability to create viral content on YouTube in 2014, launching his own channel which became famous for controversies, practical jokes, and hip-hop.
In 2015 he ventured into television by signing for Disney Channel in the teen series “Bizaardvark”.
The relationship ended in 2017 amid increased media attention over some of Paul's YouTube stunts, such as setting fire to furniture in an empty swimming pool at his luxury home in Los Angeles.
However, Paul gained widespread attention when he turned his hand to celebrity boxing, a trend started by his older brother Logan Paul, who defeated English influencer KSI in a pay-per-view amateur contest in Manchester in 2018. Had a fight.
Although ridiculed by the traditional boxing world, that fight – where Jake Paul appeared on the undercard against English influencer Daisy Olatunji – attracted the attention of the sport's moneymakers, generating approximately 1.3 million pay-per-view buys.
Before his fight with Tyson, Paul was 7-1 professionally, with his only loss coming against British boxer Tommy Fury earlier this year.
