Indore (Madhya Pradesh): With positive efforts and better implementation of government schemes, Madhya Pradesh can move from its current third position and become the top milk producer in the country as there is immense potential to increase milk production. This can help in improving the livelihood of livestock farmers.
Chairman of the Indian Veterinary Council, New Delhi, Umesh Chandra Sharma said this in his keynote speech at a one-day workshop organized on increasing the income of cattle farmers through dairy development. A workshop was organized at the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry College, Mhow on Thursday under the joint aegis of Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Sciences University, Jabalpur and Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department, Indore Division.
Dr. Sharma said that there is immense potential in the field of dairy development in Madhya Pradesh and through these efforts, animal farmers can be made economically capable by increasing milk production. Throwing light on the concept of the workshop, Indore Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh said that the workshop is being organized under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
Through the workshop, efforts will be made to encourage the officers and field level employees of all the districts of the division to become cattle herders and make them self-reliant by connecting them to the field of milk production. He said that efforts will be made to make Indore division a leader in milk production through milk societies by empowering cooperative institutions.
In the workshop, Dr. Manohar Lal Kamboj, Principal Scientist of National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, and Dr. Chandradutt, Senior Scientist, gave detailed information about animal husbandry and dairy production. The workshop is also addressed by Dr. Mayank Tandon and Dr. Parag Pandya, Senior Managers of Animal Breeding Anand Gujarat.
Indore District Panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain and departmental officers from different districts of the division were present in the workshop. Before this, Manoj Gautam, Joint Director of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department, presented an overview of the workshop.
In this workshop, subject experts provided guidance regarding animal breed, housing, nutrition, mechanization of farms, artificial insemination and training to make cattle farmers aware of various aspects of dairy farming.
