Team India is likely to be without the services of express pacer Mayank Yadav for the upcoming white-ball assignment against England. Mayank, who made his T20I debut against Bangladesh last year, is widely seen as one of the best fast bowling prospects in the country. His ability to consistently bowl at speeds of 150 kmph made him an asset for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. However, the Indian team is unlikely to get his services in the T20I series against England starting on January 22.
Mayank has been struggling with a back injury for some time now and is unlikely to be fit in time for the England tour. His absence from Delhi's Ranji Trophy second leg against Saurashtra tells everything about his condition.
“He is suffering from a back injury and is unlikely to be fit for the England series,” a BCCI source said. He has also been named among the probables for Delhi's first Ranji Trophy match of the second leg against Saurashtra from January 23. Has not been done.” The Times of India.
Many have backed Mayank to become an integral part of India's fast bowling unit across all formats, but injuries have prevented him from furthering his career. While Mayank showed a lot of promise in the T20 series against Bangladesh, he is yet to make his ODI or Test debut.
India's No. 1 fast bowler across formats, Jasprit Bumrah, is also expected to miss the entire white-ball series against England. He has been sidelined due to a back injury, so his participation in the Champions Trophy is also not certain.
Bumrah had back spasms during the Sydney Test against Australia, due to which he had to sit for half the match.
At the moment, players like Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh look certain for the limited overs series against England as well as the Champions Trophy. The names of other fast bowlers have not been confirmed yet.
