Mumbai: A tight security arrangement has been imposed in South Mumbai for the swearing-in ceremony of the Maharashtra Cabinet at Azad Maidan on Thursday, November 5. Additionally, traffic rules in the area around Azad Maidan have been temporarily changed.

The swearing-in ceremony for the newly formed state cabinet has been held at Azad Maidan on Thursday evening. The event will be attended by political leaders, dignitaries and a large number of citizens. To ensure law and order, Mumbai Police has made elaborate security arrangements under the guidance of Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, Special Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti and Joint Commissioner (Law and Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary.

For the smooth conduct of the event, the police will deploy 5 additional commissioners of police, 15 deputy commissioners of police, 29 assistant commissioners of police, 520 police officers, 3,500 constables, as well as special units like SRPF platoons, quick reaction teams. (QRT), Riot Control Units, Delta Force, and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS).

Police have urged citizens attending the event to follow the instructions, report any suspicious object and contact the police helpline (100, 112) for immediate assistance.

Anticipating a large turnout, the traffic police have imposed temporary traffic changes in the area from Thursday afternoon to midnight. A dedicated team of 1 Additional Commissioner of Police, 3 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 30 police officers and 250 constables will monitor the traffic management.

There will be no parking facility available at Azad Maidan. Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation such as trains and buses to reach the venue.

Restricted routes and options,

BMC Road: Traffic will be restricted from CST Junction to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk (Metro Junction).
Option: Vehicles can use Lokmanya Tilak Marg via Chakla Junction and DN Road.

Mahatma Gandhi Road: Both lanes will remain closed from Chafekar Bandhu Chowk to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk.
Option: Use Lokmanya Tilak Marg or Maharishi Karve Road.

Hazarimal Somani Road: Traffic will be restricted from Chafekar Bandhu Chowk to CST Junction.
Option: Use Hutatma Chowk, Kala Ghoda and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg.

Princes Street Bridge (Meghdoot Bridge): Southbound traffic will be diverted from NS Road.

Rambhau Salgaonkar Road: Double lane traffic will operate from 12 noon to 8 pm.

Police appeal to citizens to cooperate with traffic rules to ensure smooth and safe event.
