Chennai couple converted the roof into bird haven

Chennai (Tamil Nadu):

A couple from Chennai, Sudarson and Withia, feeding parrots, pigeons, pigeons, and home sparrows on the roof of their residence for 15 years, turned it into a paradise for birds and a major attraction for visitors, including foreigners and celebrities.

Talking to Annie, Sudarson said, “My parrots call me Sudarson. We have been feeding birds here for the last 16 years. It started after my father's death. One day I went to the roof and saw the hungry parrot looking for food. To cut more than 10,000 trees in the city, I started dining every morning and evening.

Explaining the preferences of birds, he said, “We initially gave them sunflower seeds, but our South Indian rose-rod parrots do not eat them. Now, we give them raw peanuts, soaked rice and seasonal fruits. We start cooking this fresh every day.”

According to Sudarson, the months from December to March are peak season. “It is a bird season from December to March. During these months, more than 15,000 parrots gather on my roof. It seems like heaven. I do not allow anyone on the roof in the morning. But celebrities and foreign tourists travel regularly. They can't see 15,000 birds anywhere else,” he said.

He shared that during summer, the number decreases to about 1,000–2,000 parrots, but the interest remains more. He said, “The people of Sweden, Switzerland and England already book their January tickets and make appointments to travel to me,” he said.

In the public interest, Sudarson said, “Every evening, about 100-150 people meet us. Mornings are banned in the morning. Visitors say they feel very positive after seeing parrots. Children especially prefer to come here during their summer holidays.”

“If you find 'parrots Sudarson' on Google, it will take you to us. There is always a huge crowd,” they combined with a smile.

The roof of the couple is now a peaceful place not only for birds, but also for those who love nature. He has followed this routine without failing for more than 15 years. With cutting so many trees in the city, they feel that it is their duty to take care of birds.

The roof of Sudarsan and Withia has become a famous place in Chennai, which attracts daily visitors and bird lovers from all over the world. As more trees are cut, their roofs like their roof give food and protection to birds. Many people now go to their home to see birds and learn from their work.
