Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Four days before the by-elections in the state, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar has made serious allegations against BJP.
Singhar said that when the BJP was toppling the Congress-led government in 2020, the party had offered him Rs 50 crore and a ministerial berth. However, Singhar did not reveal the name of the leader who had come to him with such a proposal. He gave this statement in Gwalior on Friday.
Umang said that Ramniwas Rawat was struggling with financial problems. Singhar said, everyone knows the reasons behind Rawat joining BJP. Since Rawat's business had closed down and he was trapped in debt, he compromised people's trust for his own benefit.
Singhar's statement reminded us of the allegations that Congress had made against the government four years ago. Then Congress had alleged that crores of rupees had been spent to buy party MLAs.
Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh had then alleged that BJP had spent Rs 35 crore to buy MLAs. Yet no Congress MLA opposed Singh's statement.
By-elections cannot be fair
Rawat is the forest minister, Singhar said, adding that Kishore Kanyal, a deputy secretary of his department, was posted as collector of Sheopur. Singhar said, the by-election in Vijaypur cannot be fair.
