Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir has taken a dig at Ravi Shastri in an old interview, the video of which has surfaced after the national team's recent Test series defeat to New Zealand at home. The interview shows Gambhir criticizing then coach Shastri for not winning anything outside India except the World Series in 1986.
“Nothing brings joy more than laughter. I am sure that I don't even know Ravi Shastri's records, he has not seen any old series. Sometimes it happens that you yourself have not won anything, then you feel that the team of which you coach That team is the best. Because you yourself have not won anything. Apart from the World Series he won there, I do not remember Ravi Shastri winning anything outside India.
(I only laugh at them. I am sure Ravi Shastri does not know the old records or has seen any previous series. It often happens that if you have nothing as a player, you think that You are the best coaching team, apart from the World Series in 1986, I don't remember Ravi Shastri winning anything outside India.”
