Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Ye Chamak Ye Damak-Famous bhajan singer Pandit Sudhir Vyas said that the song is not a tribute to Lord Ram or any particular deity. He said, “It is dedicated to our Creator, the Supreme Being.” He said that this is not only about Hinduism, but also about all religions. He said, “Some Muslims have told me that they sing this song in mosques.”
65-year-old Vyas, who had come to participate in a program in the city, has been performing musical presentation of Sunderkand, a chapter of Ramcharitmanas, in India and abroad for almost 35 years. In an interview with Free Press, Vyas said that many of his fans told him that the song was a stress-buster and helped them relax after a long day's work.
Many young mothers have written letters to him saying that it is a lullaby for their children. He rose to fame with his chartbuster, Yeh Chamak Yeh Dhamaka, whose release coincided with the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya in January 2024. The song was liked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The video of his song has been viewed more than 200 million times. Vyas has 3.79 lakh followers on his YouTube channel. The devotional video was shot at a Hanuman temple in Rajwada, Indore. “This is the second version of the song. The first was recorded in 2019. He said that he has not taken any formal training in music and has learned singing on his own. He said, “My parents were very religious and when I was a child, my mother would give me food only after reciting five chaupaiyas of Sunderkand and shlokas of Bhagwat.”
Regarding the Dig Up India campaign to find temples under every mosque and places revered by Muslims, Vyas said it was politics. “God does not live in any temple, mosque or church. He is in our hearts, He is everywhere, He is in every particle,” Vyas said. “Every person living in India is a Hindu and all Muslims are former Hindus. He said, “India has seen many waves of invaders – Shakas, Huns, Muslims and British but Sanatan Dharma has survived and it will survive.”
