Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The new laws Indian Civil Code (BNS), 2023, Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS), 2023 and Indian Evidence Code (BSS), 2023 came into force from July 1 but most police stations conduct investigations through the traditional method. Officials said here on Tuesday that now the police headquarters is purchasing tablets for its investigating officers.
About 25 thousand tablets are to be purchased. There are 1,150 police stations in Madhya Pradesh. Every police station in the state will get an average of 21 tablets. Some procedures have changed under the new laws. Changes have been made in 24 provisions of BSS. Now the investigating officers will have to record the statements of the victims, accused and witnesses in the digital device.
Other evidence will be saved in the form of photos with geo tagging. The tablets will be connected to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) which will connect through the central server and if any other district or state wants to know about the whereabouts of a criminal, they can access it and find Are. Another advantage of the tablet is related to handing over the charge after transfer.
The outgoing investigating officer has to give the tablet to the incoming IO so that he can know specifically about the matters under investigation. The Center had asked the state government to purchase tablets and other gadgets for testing but there were concerns about the budget. Now, the procurement process has been started and the tablets will be delivered to IO soon.
