Controversy! KL Rahul Loses Cool At Umpire After Getting Dismissed, DRS Under Scanner For...

The first Test of the Australian summer is in the news for all the wrong reasons after the dismissal of KL Rahul. The first session of the opening Test of the Border Gavaskar Series between India and Australia was marred by controversy when KL Rahul became the victim of a controversial DRS call which forced him to leave the field.

KL Rahul's controversial decision

The incident occurred when Rahul was batting on 26 off 74 balls and India had already lost three wickets. While facing Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul's ball went from behind the stump into the hands of Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey. But, the on-field umpire was taken aback. After this Australia decided to review.

A good gap can be seen between the ball and the bat in the video as the ball was passing the bat. However, the gap narrowed in the next frame as the Snicko meter showed a spike. The third umpire found the replays conclusive enough to overturn the on-field umpire's decision.

While Rahul not only lost his cool but also argued his case with the on-field umpire, replays showed that the bat had hit the pad, which could have generated a snicker spike, but the third umpire did not go for the parallel frame, Shows the ball passing through the bat and the bat hitting the pad.
