Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Cottage and Village Industries Department, Dilip Jaiswal has instructed Madhya Pradesh Silk Federation to revise the rates of cocoon. Jaiswal made this statement during his visit to Malakhedi silk complex in Narmadapuram on Tuesday.
He inspected the Malakhedi cocoon market and the way farmers sell cocoons and interacted with traders from Karnataka and West Bengal. When he talked to the farmers, they told that the rate they are getting from Madhya Pradesh Silk Federation is less than the market.
The Minister directed the officials of Madhya Pradesh Silk Federation to revise the rates of cocoons as per the cocoons available in the market, so that the Federation can purchase cocoons and operate the machines to make silk clothes. The federation will manage everything – from cocoon production to making silk sarees – thereby creating employment opportunities for farmers and weavers, Jaiswal said.
The minister also inspected the silk fabric weaving process and a showroom. During the inspection, many officials of the Cottage and Village Industries Department including District Silk Officer Ravindra Singh were present.
