Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024 are near. All eyes are on the big fight between the ruling grand alliance led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena – Shinde) along with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis (BJP), Ajit Pawar (NCP); and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) led by Sharad Pawar (NCP-Sharad Pawar), Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena-UBT) and Nana Patole (Congress). Kurla Assembly Constituency is one of the major constituencies that everyone is keeping an eye on. Kurla assembly constituency falls in the Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha constituency.

Kurla constituency is one of the 288 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The constituency, designated number 174, falls in the Mumbai Suburban district. This constituency is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC).

It is currently represented in the Maharashtra Assembly by Mangesh Kudalkar of Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). Kudalkar is contesting the elections this time also. He is contesting against Praveena Morajkar of Shiv Sena (UBT).

In the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2019, Kudalkar defeated Milind Kamble of Shiv Sena by 21,013 votes. Kudalkar got 55049 votes while Kamble got 34036 votes.

Mangesh Kudalkar has been successful in retaining power in the Kurla constituency. He also won the 2014 elections.

According to the latest data from the Election Commission, there are 258947 voters in Kurla constituency.

Current situation in Maharashtra Assembly:

Currently, the ruling government in Maharashtra has 202 MLAs. Of these, BJP has 102 seats, NCP (Ajit Pawar) has 40, Shiv Sena (Shinde) has 38 and other parties have 22 seats.

Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has 69 seats in its kitty. Of these, Congress has 37 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) has 16, NCP (Sharad Pawar) has 12 while other parties have six seats. Fifteen seats are vacant.
