Mumbai: Journalist Rana Ayyub has filed a complaint with the Mumbai Cyber Crime Cell accusing an unidentified person of harassment, who has made his contact number public. He posted on X, “I have filed a written complaint at the cyber crime headquarters in BKC. The phone calls and harassment have not stopped. Hope Mumbai Police will take action on the complaint and talk about women safety. Arrest the culprits.”

Tonight almost in the lam, this right wing handle posted my number on X, and asked their followers to text me. My phone didn't stop ringing the whole night. Video calls, obscene WhatsApp messages… this was targeted harassment.
He added, “I have an archived link of the tweet where people are posting screenshots of their text messages to this guy. I woke up on the lam and couldn't sleep at night. It has been a painful night for me and my family. This is humiliating, threatening in public.” In this post he has tagged the account 'Support (Here to Help)'.

Rana Ayyub is an investigative journalist who has won several awards, including the International Press Freedom Award, presented by the Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) in October 2023.
