England's interim head coach Marcus Trescothick has admitted that it has been a challenging time for the team after losing the ODI series to the West Indies. Due to a busy cricket schedule, England included several new players in the Caribbean ODI tour, but lost 2–1, their third consecutive series defeat in this format. “It has been a really challenging time for us. Friends, the test series has just ended in Pakistan. Another test series is starting within 20 days. We know where we are. We saw some things we wanted to see,” Trescothick told TNT Sports at the end of the series.

In the series decider at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, Casey Carty scored an unbeaten 128 off just 114 balls after Brandon King made 102 as West Indies successfully chased 263/8 with seven overs to spare for an emphatic series win. Achieved.

Trescothick also feels that young all-rounder Jacob Bethel, who scored a half-century in the second match of the series won by England, is a bright spot for the visitors. “We have a better understanding of what our team will look like compared to the series results.”

“Some people are really moving forward. For example, Liam Livingstone. Bethel has really shined in its short time. The support we get is amazing. We have to try and stay on top of this and understand what we're going through.”

Brendon McCullum is set to take charge of the white-ball teams when England tour India for five T20s and three ODIs in January, with former England captain Alastair Cook believing his inclusion will help the team. will get the necessary impetus to regain its image.

“I'm looking forward to McCullum putting his stamp on this team because he has a way of getting the best out of players. Whenever he took charge of the team, he generated real excitement about playing in that team. With that ODI team, it just needs a little boost,” Cook said.
