Jagan's mother supports Sharmila amid conflict between siblings

Jagan Reddy

There is a tough dispute going on between Jagan Reddy and YS Sharmila regarding family property.

Hyderabad:

Amid YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's row with his sister and Congress leader YS Sharmila over inheritance worth crores, his mother YS Vijayamma has written an open letter, putting her stand behind Ms Sharmila and said That it is his duty to speak for them. A misbehaved child”.

In response, the YSR Congress Party issued an open letter, saying that “the mother has not been neutral”. The Jagan Reddy-led party said Vijayamma had supported Sharmila and the Congress before and after the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. In the state elections held earlier this year, the YSRCP suffered a defeat with Jagan Reddy losing to arch rival TDP's N Chandrababu Naidu. YSRCP said that YS Sharmila had joined the party which had put Jagan Reddy in jail.

He wrote that Sharmila was not involved in the family business but worked selflessly in politics on the instructions of Jagan Reddy. Vijayamma wrote, “The credit for Jagan's rise to power goes to Sharmila's efforts. As a mother, all children are equal. It is painful to see injustice being done to a child. As a mother, it is my duty That I speak for the child who has been wronged.” He said it was “extremely painful” for him to watch these events unfold. She wrote, “My late husband Rajasekhar Reddy, our children and I were a happy family. I cannot understand why our family is facing so many difficulties. Despite my efforts to stop it, unfortunate events are happening before my eyes. Coming forward.” ,

Vijayamma condemned the baseless claims being spread about her family and said this should stop. “This is neither good for my children, nor for the state. I hesitated to raise it, but the situation demands it. I urge those who did so to stop talking bad about our family Is.”

He wrote, “Blood is thicker than water. My children will answer for themselves. I trust in God, who will provide solutions to their problems.”

Rejecting claims that YSR had divided his assets among his children while he was alive, he wrote, “While YSR was alive, he transferred some of his assets in the name of my younger daughter Sharmila and some in the name of my son Jagan This is not division of property.” , It's just allocating them.”

YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh and popular Congress leader, died in a helicopter crash in 2009.

Vijayamma wrote, “YSR's wish was that his children get equal shares and that is true. Jagan worked hard to increase our wealth, but all the wealth belongs to the family.”

“After YSR's untimely demise in 2009, Jagan and Sharmila lived together till 2019. Jagan gave Rs 200 crore from his share to Sharmila as per the agreement. As per the MOU, Jagan will get 60% and Sharmila will get 40%. However “Prior to the MOU, they shared equal dividends as Sharmila held equal shares,” he wrote.

Vijayamma wrote that Jagan Reddy had proposed division of property after becoming the Chief Minister in 2019. He said he cited concerns about potentially not being able to be with his grown children.

“After that, in Vijayawada, in my presence, they decided to divide the property, saying 'this is Jagan's and this is Sharmila's'. The MOU written in 2019 is the same. This MOU was written by Jagan himself. And signed. Since Sharmila had the rights, Jagan gave her Rs 200 crore as dividend, which is why he wrote the MoU officially.

“The assets mentioned in the MOU to be given to Sharmila are not a gift from Jagan but his responsibility. Since there was no attachment, Jagan promised and signed that he would give to Sharmila 100% Saraswati shares and 100% stake as mentioned in the MOU Will give. Yelahanka property is not mentioned immediately in the MoU, Vijayamma wrote.

“Shramila was also unfairly treated over unrelated properties. Sharmila's share included Bharti Cements, Sakshi Media and YSR's house, which should be given after the cases,” he said. He said he had to speak out to clarify the truth “amid the lies spread by many people”. He wrote, “The truth is… still, they are brother and sister. It's their issue; they'll work it out.”

“Had Rajasekhara Reddy been alive, this property issue would not have arisen, and such a controversy would not have happened. Had there not been ongoing lawlessness I would not have had to speak. I believe only my words can do this Vijayamma Wrote, please stop this. I request you all to refrain from speaking irresponsibly as our children.

YSRCP, replying to Vijayamma's letter, said that Jagan Reddy never asked for the property back. “YS Jagan has shared his assets with his sister Sharmila under goodwill. He is not a director in any of Jagan's businesses. Jagan treated Sharmila with kindness, just like any brother. Late CM Rajasekhara Reddy had already transferred the properties to Sharmila and YSRCP state secretary SV Satheesh Reddy said in a statement, Jagan never asked for those properties to be returned and he only exchanged the properties attached in the ED cases without her knowledge. A notice was sent regarding.

Siblings Letter War

The siblings have exchanged bitter letters amid the dispute, accusing each other of “deceitful (and) extremely hurtful” actions that belittle their father's memory.

Jagan Reddy had earlier written to the National Company Law Tribunal to red flag the “illegal” transfer of shares in Saraswati Power. He said these shares were “given to me as a trust by a gift deed” and that he had “gifted” them to his mother, YS Vijayalakshmi, “with the understanding that the transfer… would take place after court approval (and) execution of further appropriate documentation…”

But these shares, the former chief minister wrote, were transferred by his sister to herself “in a fraudulent manner (which) creates potential legal implications for me”. These shares, he said, will now “come back to me as the original and continuing owner and beneficiary of interest…” The YSR Congress chief also declared the MoU signed in 2019 void. The MOU mentions their intention to “effect the transfer”. At some point in the future, out of some property for you, out of my love and affection for you as my brother-sister.

In response, Ms Sharmila marked her father's “explicit” instruction that “all assets acquired from family resources during his lifetime should be divided equally among his four grandchildren”.

He rejected Jagan Reddy's intention to cancel the MoU, saying it had no legal authority.

He wrote, “You have done what our dear father would never have imagined… filed cases against his beloved wife (our mother) and daughter (myself) to deprive his family of their legitimate share “

On the thorny issue of Saraswati Power shares, Ms Reddy claimed that the intention was to make the transfer on signing of the MoU “but you (Jagan Reddy) failed to fulfill this promise for many years…”

The Company Law Tribunal will hear the case on November 8.

The inheritance dispute has come to light after the brothers and sisters separated politically. Having campaigned extensively for her brother in the run up to the 2019 assembly elections, YS Sharmila went on to form her own YSR Telangana party in 2021. This year, before the general elections, it merged with Congress. Congress appointed YS Sharmila as the party's Andhra Pradesh chief, pitting her as her brother's rival.
