Several cars collide in the convoy of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan

Six escort vehicles, including an ambulance, were seen colliding with each other.

Several vehicles in Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's convoy collided with each other as the pilot car suddenly stopped to save a two-wheeler rider in Thiruvananthapuram this evening. The Chief Minister's car suffered minor damage in the accident but he was not injured.

In footage of the accident, the female driver can be seen turning right, causing a white SUV behind her to stop suddenly. Six escort vehicles, including an ambulance running behind the SUV, were seen colliding with each other.

The incident occurred at Vamanapuram in Thiruvananthapuram when Mr Vijayan was returning to the state capital after a visit to Kottayam, about 150 km from here.

Security personnel were seen alighting from vehicles to assess the situation and check on the Chief Minister. Many medical staff were also seen coming out of the ambulance.

Police have started investigating the woman two-wheeler driver to gather more information, an official said.
